Dear friends, if you are interested in reading and \"working out\" this fundamental work by Rudolf Steiner together, then you are cordially invited to do so. No special previous knowledge is required. Steiner inscribed the lines in a copy of the first edition of the \"Philosophy of Freedom\":<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Eternal becoming in thinking
Each step at the same time deepening
Overcoming the surface,
Penetration into the depths.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philosophy of Freedom is a central work of Rudolf Steiner's life and was published in 1894 with the subtitle \"Outlines of a Modern Worldview\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the world (especially in Europe) lay in ruins and shards of the First World War and many people were desperately searching for the ways out of the chaos of injustice, suffering and enormous insecurity, the author significantly expanded his early work and published it a second time in 1918. He dreamed of a community of free spirits who alone together could find the way to a fulfilled and ethical life on earth and thereby make this world appear in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>In this work we probably do not find any such expressions that we will know later from Theosophy or Anthroposophy. Like an \"umbrella title\", at the beginning of the book is written \"Observational results according to the scientific method\". It does not present the theosophical division of the human being, nor does it explain the idea of reincarnations or deal with the supersensible paths of human consciousness. However, an attentive reader cannot escape the observation that the roots of everything that later grows on the tree of spiritual science can be found in this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In times when the question of the nature of human life together arises on a daily basis and freedom is put to the test, the deepening of thinking and feeling appears to be a necessity. Ultimately, the path of knowledge is a process of liberation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
